Supporting the development of hydrogen
The Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU) is a unique public-private partnership to support research, technological development and demonstration (RTD) activities in fuel cell and hydrogen energy technologies in Europe. Its purpose is to accelerate the market introduction of these technologies, realizing their potential as a tool to create a clean carbon energy system.
Fuel cells, such as efficient conversion technology, and hydrogen as a clean energy carrier, have great potential to help combat carbon dioxide emissions, reduce dependency on hydrocarbons and contribute to economic growth. The objective of the IC FCH is to bring these benefits to the Europeans through a concentrated effort by all sectors.
The three members of the FCH IC are the industries of the European Commission, fuel cells and hydrogen represented by Hydrogen Europe and the research community represented by Hydrogen Europe Research.
